Guetersloh – September 23rd 2025 - Sonopress, a leading global provider in the field of media production, is working with US technology pioneer Citizen Vinyl / vinylkey® to integrate patented NFC chip technology into Sonopress' sustainable EcoRecords. At the heart of the collaboration is an innovative RFID chip that is embedded directly into the LP and provides end consumers with proof of authenticity and additional digital content related to the album and artist via smartphone – including song lyrics, exclusive videos, and bonus tracks. The technology also enables consumers to easily register these albums onchain, creating a powerful fan to artist connection.

Sustainably produced Long-Playing records made of PET are becoming increasingly popular on the market

After months of preparation, Sonopress, a leading storage media producer, has produced and delivered the first EcoRecord order for its client Warner Music Group (WMG). It has manufactured sustainable LPs in orange for an exclusive release of the eponymous joint album from two of rock’s greatest icons, Liam Gallagher & John Squire. The new album is out now, released by WMG’s Warner Records label. The EcoRecord is available exclusively at Amazon worldwide as well as JB Hi-Fi in Australia.

Leading storage media manufacturer Sonopress has developed a revolutionary new form of long-playing record that dramatically reduces the environmental impact of the manufacturing process. Neither natural gas nor steam are needed to press the discs, and in test operations the energy savings were up to 85% compared to the conventional process.

For the production of the novel "EcoRecord" LP, recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is used as the base material instead of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which can also be 100% recycled PET from SK Chemicals.

This allows a significant reduction in carbon emissions - while ensuring the same physical properties and safety as existing PET.
